Loteprednol is in a class of drugs called corticosteroids. Loteprednol inhibits processes in the body that cause inflammation (swelling). Tobramycin is an antibiotic. Loteprednol and tobramycin ophthalmic is used to treat eye inflammation caused by surgery, infection, allergies, and other conditions. Loteprednol and tobramycin ophthalmic may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
Zylet is an eye solution used to treat eye inflammations caused by bacterial infections, surgery and allergies. It reduces swelling and inflammation while killing the bacteria responsible.
Zylet is a sterile eye drops used to treat inflammation usually post-surgery to reduce the risk of a bacterial infection. Alternatively, it is used to treat inflammation caused by certain non-bacterial infections and allergies. The eye drops also are an anti-infective eye drop that contains the steroids hydrocortisone prednisone, dexamethasone and loteprednol and tobramycin.
The ingredients include antibiotics polymixin B, gentamycin, neomycin. These ingredients combine to treat allergic conjunctivitis, cyclitis, and bulbar conjunctiva.
Zylet can assist in treating bacterial infections caused by Staphylococci and Escherichia coli particularly the ingredient tobramycin. It cannot be used to treat certain bacterial infections such as herpes. Zylet is not recommended to use with contact lenses as the solution may cause discoloration of the lens.
