Exactly how it works is not known, but it is thought to work by decreasing the number of certain white blood cells (lymphocytes) that enter the central nervous system (CNS).
Gilenya (fingolimod) is a used to treat individuals suffering from multiple sclerosis. The drug is part of the sphingosine receptor modulators drug class. Gilenya will not cure this disease.
