Treating patients who have high cholesterol and certain other conditions (eg, high blood pressure, heart blood vessel problems, angina [chest pain]). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. Caduet is a calcium channel blocker (amlodipine) and HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (atorvastatin) combination. Amlodipine works by widening blood vessels to reduce chest pain and high blood pressure. Atorvastatin works to decrease your risk of heart attack, stroke, and chest pain by lowering "bad" cholesterol (eg, triglycerides) and raising "good" cholesterol (eg, high-density lipoprotein [HDL]) in the blood.
Caduet is a drug that contains two active ingredients. Each has a specific function to help lower blood pressure. Amlodipine and Atorvastatin are mainly used to lower blood cholesterol as well as treat high blood pressure. In addition to a healthy balanced diet and exercise, Caduet can be used to help patients with high blood pressure. It also prevents strokes and heart attacks.
