Xolegel is a topical antifungal cream that contains ketoconazole as its active ingredient. Ketoconazole is a synthetic form of imidazole, an antifungal that is used to remedy fungal infections. Xolegel is prescribed for the treatment of fungal infections that manifest on the skin and mucous membranes such as ringworms, jock itch, candidiasis, athlete's foot, tinea versicolour and dandruff. Xolegel functions by inhibiting the growth of the fungus Malassezia furfur, on the affected areas.
