Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by reducing substances in the body that cause inflammation, pain, and fever. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor. It decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Esomeprazole and naproxen is a combination medicine used to treat symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. The esomeprazole in this medication helps reduce the risk of stomach ulcers in people who may be at risk for them while receiving treatment with an NSAID. Vimovo is an oral tablet administered to patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis diseases. This product contains two medications, the yellow and oval tablet has 375 mg of naproxen in the core and 22.3 mg esomeprazole magnesium layer surrounding the core. Naproxen use can cause ulcers or bleeding, but the combination reduces the risk including esomeprazole.
