Spiriva (tiotropium) is a bronchodilator used to treat COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), including chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. COPD is a progressive lung disease that makes it hard to breathe and gets worse over time. Wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing, and chest tightness, and all COPD symptoms that can be helped with Spiriva. SPIRIVA HandiHaler is taken as a single dose every day to help open airways and increase airflow to the lungs. It prevents bronchospasm, which is the narrowing of airways in the lungs. Spriva works overtime to help improve lung function by opening airways. It is not meant to replace your rescue inhaler or treat sudden breathing problems.
