Mepivacaine is an anesthetic (numbing medicine) that blocks the nerve impulses that send pain signals to your brain. Mepivacaine is used as a local (in only one area) anesthetic for an epidural or spinal block. It is also used as an anesthetic for dental procedures. Polocaine is a clear, colorless anesthetic which is used to induce numbness in the body. Polocaine is mainly administered during infiltration and regional anesthesia. It is available in 3 concentrations, namely 1%, 1.5% and 2%. Polocaine is usually used during dental procedures.
