Pindolol is in a group of drugs called beta-blockers. Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Pindolol is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Pindolol may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Pindolol belongs to the beta blockers group of medicines. Pindolol is used in treating high blood pressure and works by relaxing blood vessels and reducing the heart rate to lower blood pressure and improve blood flow. Pindolol slows down the heart activity by blocking messages sent to the heart by some nerves. Pindolol blocks tiny areas referred to as beta-adrenergic receptors where messages are received by the heart making the heart beat slower and with low force.
