Perphenazine is an anti-psychotic medicine in a group of drugs called phenothiazines (FEEN-oh-THYE-a-zeens). It works by changing the actions of chemicals in your brain. Perphenazine is used to treat psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. It is also used to control severe nausea and vomiting. Perphenazine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Perphenazine works by lowering the abnormal excitement of the brain. It works on serious vomiting and nausea in adults. Perphenazine also treats mental disorders that cause loss of interest in life, strongly inappropriate emotions and disturbed sometimes unusual thinking. Perphenazine also works on patients diagnosed with terminal illnesses since it has an action on an area of the brain that controls vomiting.
