Treating Parkinson disease. It is also used for the treatment of moderate to severe restless legs syndrome (RLS). Neupro is a dopamine agonist. Exactly how it works is not known. It is thought to work in certain areas of the brain to reduce the symptoms (eg, uncontrolled muscle movements) of RLS and the early stages of Parkinson disease.
Neupro, or rotigotine, is in the dopaminergic antiparkinsonism agents drug class. Neupro is used in order to treat Parkinson's disease and restless leg syndrome. Neupro (rotigotine) is a transdermal medication, otherwise known as a patch method of transmitting the medication into the blood stream. The medication travels through the layer of skin directly into the blood to spread the medication quickly. Because of this, it is very important to consult with your doctor to determine the dosage that your symptoms dictate and that your body can handle. Even though Neupro is an antiparkinson medication, this prescription drug does not cure Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease is not curable as of yet.
