Nebivolol is in a group of drugs called beta-blockers. Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Nebivolol is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Lowering blood pressure may lower your risk of a stroke or heart attack. Nebivolol may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Nebivolol is used to treat high blood pressure. It acts by lowering a patient's blood pressure which helps in preventing heart attacks, strokes and kidney complications. It is also used to treat chronic heart failure in patients aged 70 and above. This drug is a beta blocker, by blocking the action of chemicals, such as noradrenaline and adrenaline. Nebivolol reduces the effect that these chemicals have on the heart, thus lowering blood rate, pressure and easing strain on the heart. Some doctors use this medication to treat chest pain and heart failure in their patients. Research also shows that Nebivolol helps increase a patient's survival rate after a heart attack.
