Metoprolol is a beta-blocker that affects the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Metoprolol is used to treat angina (chest pain) and hypertension (high blood pressure). Lopressor HCT contains two medications namely: Metoprolol and Hydrochlorothiazide. Lopressor HCT is available in form of tablets for oral administration. While Metoprolol is an adrenoreceptor blocking agent, hydrochlorothiazide acts as a diuretic or water pill. The two drugs in Lopressor HCT work together in lowering high blood pressure of the patient.
