Lomedia™ 24 Fe provides a dosage regimen consisting of 24 white progestogen-estrogen contraceptive tablets and 4 brown ferrous fumarate (placebo) tablets. Each white tablet contains 1 mg norethindrone acetate and 20 mcg ethinyl estradiol. Each white tablet also contains the following inactive ingredients: povidone, anhydrous lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, polacrilin potassium and magnesium stearate.
Lomedia 24 FE is a combination of two different hormones that is regularly used to prevent pregnancy. The hormones contained include a progestin and an ethinyl estradiol, which work together to keep eggs from being released during the menstrual cycle (ovulation). They also thicken vaginal fluid and alter the chemistry of the uterine lining, which makes it more difficult for sperm to reach an egg and for any fertilized eggs to attach to the wall of the uterus.
Lomedia 24 Fe (ethynyl estradiol /norethindrone) is a combination medication which contains hormones that help in preventing ovulation. Lomedia 24 Fe also causes changes in the cervical mucus making it difficult for sperm to reach the uterus.
Lomedia 24 Fe is mainly used to prevent pregnancy. It works as a contraceptive. However, it may also be used for other purposes as determined by the doctor. Do not use this medication if you are pregnant or suffer from heart disease high blood pressure or liver disease.
Lomedia 24 Fe may cause several side effects. Some of the side effects caused by this medication include; vomiting, confusion, chest pain, diarrhea, change in weight, vaginal itching, dizziness, nausea, loss of appetite. If these side effects occur to you, seek medical attention immediately.
