Lacosamide is an anti-epileptic drug, also called an anticonvulsant. Lacosamide is used together with other medications to treat partial-onset seizures in people with epilepsy who are at least 17 years old. Lacosamide may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Lacosamide is a drug that has a good history in the management of partial seizures that are likely to affect epilepsy patients. For a long time, it used to be referred to as erlosamide. Responsible bodies for drug classification put it under anticonvulsants because of its efficacy in containing partial seizures in humans.
