Interferon alfa-2b is made from human proteins. Interferons help the body fight viral infections. Interferon alfa-2b is used to treat hairy cell leukemia, malignant melanoma, follicular lymphoma, Kaposi's sarcoma caused by AIDS, and certain types of genital warts. Interferon alfa-2b is also used to treat chronic hepatitis B or C. Interferon alfa-2b is often used in combination with another drug called ribavirin (Rebetol). Some of the information in this medication guide applies to the use of both drugs in this combination. Interferon alfa-2b may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Intron A is a drug that is made from the proteins of humans. Intron A is used by the body to fight infections that are viral and diseases such as Melanoma and Chronic myelogenous leukemia.
