Butoconazole is an antifungal medication that fights infections caused by fungus. Butoconazole vaginal (for use in the vagina) is used to treat vaginal Candida (yeast) infections. Butoconazole vaginal may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Gynazole-1 (butoconazole nitrate) is usually used in the treatment of yeast infections of the vagina. Gynazole-1 is in form of a cream which contains mineral oil. Therefore, it is important that the patient is well averse to the effects of the components of this drug before they embark on its usage. For instance, the mineral oil may affect the latex or rubber in condoms and other vagina-related contraceptive devices like diaphragms.
