Folotyn is a medication commonly used to treat a certain type of cancer. Folotyn works by killing the cancer cells. Folotyn includes an antimetabolite, which works by tricking the cancer cells into believing that it is a normal metabolite and then stopping or slowing critical DNA enzymes that trigger cell death in the tumor. The full mechanism of this medication is not yet understood by scientists, but the antimetabolite is believed to be its central mechanism.
