Oxybutynin reduces muscle spasms of the bladder and urinary tract. Oxybutynin transdermal (skin patch) is used to treat symptoms of overactive bladder, such as frequent or urgent urination, incontinence (urine leakage), and increased nighttime urination. Oxybutynin transdermal may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Ditropan XL (oxybutynin chloride) is a drug used to treat symptoms associated with having an overactive bladder. Overactive bladder is also distinguished by an urgent need to urinate, or urine leaking. This medication may also be used to treat children who suffer from overactive bladder caused by certain conditions, such as spina bifida.
