Advate is a medicine used in the treatment of bleeding disorders in those suffering from hemophilia. The active pharmaceutical ingredient of the medicine is antihemophilic factor, a factor that promotes the clotting process in these patients. It is also used as a prophylaxis against bleeding in hemophilic patients prior to dental work or surgical operations. Common side effects of the medicine include flu-like symptoms, nausea, weakness and swelling, particularly at the point where the injection is administered. Currently, there are no known drug interactions that occur with Advate.
