Dorzolamide reduces the amount of fluid in the eye, which decreases pressure inside the eye. Dorzolamide ophthalmic (for the eyes) is used to treat open-angle glaucoma and other causes of high pressure inside the eye. Trusopt is a medicine used in the treatment of ocular conditions such as glaucoma. The medicine is therefore administered as an optical solution. The active ingredient of Trusopt is a drug called dorzolamide. Dorzolamide belongs to a class of drugs known as carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.
