Bevacizumab is a cancer medication that interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body. Bevacizumab is used to treat a certain type of brain tumor, and certain types of cancers of the kidney, lung, colon and rectum. It is usually given as part of a combination of cancer medicines. Avastin (bevacizumab) is an angiogenesis inhibitor or VEGF antibody. Avastin is used to treat certain types of cancer by interfering the growth of cancer cells. The drug may be used to treat ovarian cancer, non-small lung cancer, rectal cancer, and others. The VEGF antibody stimulates the angiogenesis. Avastin may be used in combination with other chemotherapy drugs.
